Chinese Chinatown

There is not in Paris or New York you can find a Chinatown, Shanghai too!

And yes, in the middle of skyscrapers architectures bold boulevards between Renmin Lu and Zhonghua Lu, Chinatown is the old city of Shanghai. A short distance from the Bund and the Huangpu River, we come across a large area of low houses loyal to the traditional Chinese style, the contrast is striking!
I have not yet had time to visit every corner, but I’ve been able to use my shoes on the pavement of its streets and Fangbang Zhong Lu through the door to the ancient Chinese, the street is lined with small shops of “craft” Chinese brush seal in Chinese through baguettes and shimmering fabrics, a must for tourists looking for souvenirs to bring home!

And local traders do wrong: “Look a look”, “Hallo” you hear with fun (or frustration after a while …) everything is good to attract the attention of the travel wallet !

We are hesitant, then curious and finally charmed by the swarm that takes you over the street. Anyway, it’s no use to hide, everyone sees that you are a “laowai” (= non-Chinese)]

So, if you come to Shanghai,
pass heading of “it is a tourist trap”
and let yourself be carried away by the life that animates the streets,
and if you want my opinion,
to do a hook instead of night …

First Flight between china and Taiwan

BEIJING (AP) – The first direct commercial flight from mainland China to Taiwan more than fifty years took off Saturday in Beijing.

The Boeing 737 of Air China, with 300 passengers on board, most Taiwanese businessmen, is one of the 48 direct flights between China and Taiwan over which Beijing and Taipei had agreed to the Lunar New Year holiday.

Other flights must depart from Shanghai and Guangzhou (south) on Saturday.

CHinese TKDO

My favorite sport to me, it’s basketball (14 years that I actually oula I getting older:]). But since I’m in China, it is impossible to find an interesting structure: women’s basketball is not particularly popular. So long as it was fine, I could play at leisure on the land outside the university or one of my residence, especially that Marieke is a super pro and the Chinese love the type Baball orange in their spare time: sport, nothing like to meet people and integrate!

Yes but since December it is very cold here, and in recent weeks the rain reminded of our good memories too, suddenly basketball is a bit dead. What else then?
Table tennis, tai chi or the “sport” typical Chinese or must do exercises at 6:30? yeah, blah …
The answer came to me one day in my mailbox!
At first sight, even though I do not really understand all that is written in Chinese, I recognize quite clearly that he is Taekwondo]
It have taken much before the nth paper incomprehensible goes away in the trash, what caught my attention were these few words at the bottom of this prospectus:

“For non-Chinese: Every Tuesday and Thursday 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at night”

High Kick ah ah

I came,
I saw
Because of what I’ve heard,
I do not have any comprendu (yes, okay, that’s the rhyme …)
And black palette I conquered!

And now … I have a bad c … (to rhyme, of course)
Three days in a row with TaeKwonDo drives, it leaves a mark, I’ve never felt my neck, my abs and my right kick, winner of a valiant struggle to “ap tchagui” against the pallet black, who got his third consecutive misery!

Is that last night, I have my new Dobok in acting in my size one, so my legs can unwind at their leisure

Excluded in the pictures! Few steps from the famous “ap tchagui”

You will notice that the outfit is not quite regulation, I kept my socks photo

Suzhou and Wuxi

If you’ve read my article on Hangzhou, you understand why my second escape from skyscrapers Shanghainese, I decided to go to Suzhou!

In fact it was a trip organized by Shanghai Jiao Tong, my university, and reserved exclusively for foreigners learning Chinese language trip so …. trip during which we understand anything that includes the guide, Chinese of course, tell me.

But hey, if we have not always grasped the subtle historical information about the places we visited, at least we were able to appreciate the aesthetics and atmosphere.
So on November 10th, we left 2 days, 苏州 destination Suzhou (“Soutcho”) and Wuxi 无锡 (“Wouci”), another town near Suzhou, all not far from Lake Tai Hu 太湖 (“Tay Rou “), in the province of Jiangsu 江苏 (” Tsiangsou “).
