story of beijing on snow

Tuesday, February 15th, our last day in Beijing, we were treated to … snow!

Yes, it is Sandrine and I who are enclosed in our large hoods. So that day, I saw a Peking slightly reduced field of vision but all dressed in white …

Last day in Beijing, the bags are ready, we leave the hotel to enjoy the history of our last day.
But even if we have already seen many things during the short week that just ended this morning we are like two little girls when the window we can see when we wake up the roofs of Beijing are covered a thick white layer, which thickens even with large flakes that fall under our noses …

Youpee, we can frolic in the snowy streets!
Frolic … um … well, it was easy to say. Because it snow slides
So, it took us 2 times longer to reach our usual Starbucks for breakfast … and it will be the image of the day … 2 times longer at the mercy of streets to walk safely on the sidewalks covered with snow.

I still found a way I could use paving sidewalks to identify areas less slippery: probably to the attention of the visually impaired, along sidewalks a line oriented in the direction of said sidewalk is paved differently. And of course these particular lines, it slips less

Another thing to keep in mind the snow … when it falls in large flakes … it’s very nice … but it’s cold …
So with all that, we searched all day where we could stay in our comfortable inside.
Firstly, the Friendship Store: one of these stores mainly for tourists, there are still only a few years, were paid in a foreign currency (FEC) is different from the currency used by the Chinese (Yuan or RMB). There are so all kinds of souvenirs to take, but not necessarily the best price. The balance sheet, unless snow is not the best place to shop …
Then, after the Friendship Store en route to other attractions inside …

We choose, following the suggestions of our Routard for art galleries.

To get there we had to go through the east side of the Forbidden City, and there we came across a neighborhood of low houses type Hutong quite charming, while he was covered in white …
Ultimately will walk very long to reach the contemporary art galleries and, ultimately, what we will be most appreciated ones we found by chance in our footsteps in the snow, those being recommended by Backpacker or closed, or too “avant-garde” shall we say, so that we can appreciate their value …
For galleries found randomly in the streets, they were often housed in rooms with red walls and roofs of Beijing traditional yellow, although yellow for roofs, where they were quite white
Our journey we will also be carried out on the trail of the Silk Road.
We knew that it had been destroyed long before, but it should be “recreated” in a department store on the site of its original location. We therefore wanted to see what store (place inside perspective …) but we made cabbage it is not yet ready, so we will not get the summary of the Silk Road indoors

He then came to us more than an idea in mind to enjoy our last hours in Beijing … What can two girls in a big city when the weather is bad …?
Window shopping of course!

So, just the time to decipher the sign of the bus to find a little direction and shopping district in Beijing we had spotted and Xidan shopping malls, still lined water slush.

You can be on the other side of the world, a girl knows always keep good marks
